Dr. Heidi Schmaltz

Dr. Heidi Schmaltz completed medical school and Internal Medicine residency at McGill University, in Montreal. She completed a clinical & research fellowship in Geriatric Medicine & Gerontology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore. As a geriatrician with Seniors’ Health, Alberta Health Services (Calgary), Dr. Schmaltz provides inpatient & outpatient (both in clinic & via telehealth to 2 rural communities) geriatric consultations, and is the Telehealth Lead for Seniors’ Health. A Clinical Assistant Professor in Geriatric Medicine, University of Calgary, Dr. Schmaltz’ main research interests are telehealth use in older adults, and frailty. She is the Principal Investigator of the “Improving the care of older adults through optimal use of telehealth” study funded by the MSI Foundation, and a collaborator on a variety of projects, both at the University of Calgary & elsewhere. Dr. Schmaltz is also a speaker in the “Generations at Work” series offered by Lifespeak. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, and paddling on dragon boat teams.
