The Departments of Medicine, Family Medicine, Cardiac Sciences, Rural Medicine, Psychiatry, Surgical Services and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre have been working with groups of physicians and other healthcare providers to redesign and improve access to medical and surgical services, and cancer care.

The key changes to process as a result of the Medical Access project work are:

·        A single standard referral form for all involved specialties

·        Increased flexibility in submitting referrals

·        Central Intake Clinics introduced in many specialty areas

·        Standard processes and target times for these Central Intakes

·        Improvements in communication strategies

If you have any questions or comments regarding the change in process, or if you would like additional copies of the Medical Specialists & Medical Services Referral & Triage document, please contact Jodi Glassford at Jodi.Glassford@AlbertaHealthServices.ca
