New Appointments

Dr. Karen Fruetel has accepted the position of Medical Leader for Integrated Seniors Health for the Calgary Zone. She will continue in her current role as Division Chief for Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Fruetel will provide Medical Leadership to Seniors Services, Home Care, Supportive Living and Facility Living, and Palliative Care / End of Life Care.
Dr. Kelly Zarnke has accepted the position of Division Chief for the Division of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Zarnke completed his training in Internal Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at University of Western Ontario (UWO), followed by an MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. In 2007 he moved from the UWO to join the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary (U of C) as Regional Director of Therapeutics for AHS-Calgary Zone.
Dr. Bob Herman is the Acting Site Chief for the Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) for the period of July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. Dr. Herman comes with many years of administrative experience in his former role as Division Chief for General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Maria Bacchus has been appointed to the role of Interim Joint Department Head for the Department of Medicine effective July 1, 2010.
