Successes which highlight the past year include: completion of half-day restructuring (including an integrated simulation/procedures course), successful expansion of the Internal Medicine (IM) residency to the Rockyview General Hospital Medical Teaching Unit (MTU), a relatively “painless” introduction of the PGY4 CaRMS Match, an educational/entertaining Resident Retreat and the welcoming of 27 new PGY1 residents to the University of Calgary (U of C) IM Class.
There have been many important people who deserve thanks for their tireless efforts to better the IM residency program: Drs. Maria Bacchus, John Conly, Otto Rorstad, Jeff Schaefer, and Ms. Charlene Brass, Jen Glow, Rhianna Hibberd, and the newest addition of Julie Law as well as all staff that are involved in residency education. With the valuable support and vision of these individuals, the program will continue to flourish for years to come.
Most importantly, we would like to thank all of the IM Residents for their determination and contributions to the program over the last year. None of these successes would have been possible without our inspiring colleagues.
Thank you all,
Stephen Vaughan for the Outgoing Chief Residents (Karmon Helmle, Nicole Schneider and Ken Parhar)
