Dr. Doug Hamilton joined the Division of General Internal Medicine as a Clinical Associate
Professor in October 2011. Dr. Hamilton is a graduate of the University of Calgary (U of C)
where he also completed his residencies in Internal Medicine and General Internal Medicine.
Prior to this, he received his MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta and
completed training as a Specialist in Space Life Sciences at the International Space University,
France. He joins us from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he was also a
Professional Engineer in the Faculty of Space Medicine at the Wyle Integrated Science and
Engineering Institution. Dr. Hamilton also served as a NASA flight surgeon. In 2000, the U of C
recognized him as their Alumni of the Year for his contributions to space medicine.
Dr. Dylan Pillai joined the Division of Infectious Diseases as an Associate Professor in
September, 2011. He moved from the University of Toronto (U of T), Faculty of Medicine where
he was an Assistant Professor. He received both his Medical Degree and PhD (in Molecular
Microbiology) from the U of T. He then did his residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford and
his fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at the University of California, San Francisco. His
scholarly interests are in parasitic infections and mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance.
