The Department of Medicine has 329 members of whom 225 participate in the Academic Alternate Relationship Plan (AARP). There are 10 Sections within the Department and each Section is led by a Zone Clinical Section Chief. Sections with In-Patient beds also have Site Section Chiefs. Each acute care site is represented by a Department of Medicine Site Chief. There are 167 residents in the 11 residency programs (1 core Internal Medicine and 10 subspecialty programs).
The Department of Medicine continues to focus on its vision and mission through appropriate recruitment and retention strategies, increasing its training programs, optimizing quality of care, providing leadership in evolving systems of healthcare, enhancing chronic disease management, further embracing medical outreach services and continuing to build on the research infrastructure of the Department.
