Dr. Bonnie MeatherallThe Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Dr. Bonnie Meatherall has been appointed as the Internal Medicine Clerkship Director, effective April 1, 2021

Dr. Meatherall is a full time member of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Canada since 2010. She received her medical degree at the University of Manitoba and completed her training in internal medicine and infectious diseases at the University of Calgary. She perused further training in tropical infectious diseases and received a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) from the Gorgas Course in Tropical Medicine in Lima, Peru. She completed a master’s degree in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, UK.

Dr. Meatherall’s main areas of interest within infectious diseases are tropical medicine, HIV and global health. She is currently the director of the Calgary adult tropical infectious clinic and her current research interests include the epidemiology and management of tropical diseases imported to Canada.

Dr. Meatherall is also actively involved in undergraduate medical education programs at the University of Calgary as well as developing a post-graduate infectious diseases training program at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia.

Dr. Bonnie Meatherall will be taking over from Dr. Rahim Kachra, who has served in this role since January 2016. The Department would like to thank Dr. Kachra for his contribution and commitment to the position of IM Clerkship Director over the past five years.
