Andrew Frank-WilsonWe are pleased to announce that Andrew Frank-Wilson has joined the Department of Medicine as the Team Lead, Analytics, as of October 31, 2022.

Andrew is passionate about unlocking the potential of health system data to improve health care. He joined AHS in 2018, where he has been leading the Public Health, Primary Care & Chronic Disease Management portfolio within South Zone Data & Analytics team, and has also served as an Epidemiologist with the DISER project within the Diabetes Obesity and Nutrition SCN’s Scientific Office. His projects have included building bespoke provider-level reporting solutions, automating daily provincial COVID-19 hospitalization data transfers between AHS and Alberta Health, and the design of evaluation tools and data pipelines for AHS’ Chronic Disease Management programs.

Prior to joining AHS, he trained in Epidemiology at the U.S. National Institutes of Health and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Andrew is an Alumnus of the Universities of Saskatchewan, and Western Ontario. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge, a scientific advisor to the Collaborative Health Research Institute of Southern Alberta, and is a former Associate Editor for the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity.

Outside of the office you might find him working in his vegetable garden – for which he used his data & analytics skills to determine the best locations for his garden beds and to plant trees and perennials. Andrew’s newest hobby is touring and exploring playgrounds with his young family and their geriatric Border Collie. Whenever time permits, he also enjoys disc golf, squash, paddling, mountain biking/hiking, and he may even blow the dust off of his old guitar.

Join us in welcoming Andrew to the department. We are also pleased to confirm that Edwin Enns continues in his role with the Department of Medicine in a part time capacity.
